An expert panel will discuss two new international reports on child rights. The first report surveys the impact on child justice in a world of digital courts and includes perspectives from the bench as well as surveys conducted during the pandemic on the impact of digital court on child rights. The second report presents a global action plan to end the isolation of children, or solitary confinement, by shifting to nonviolent practices and alternatives. Finally, the panel will highlight legislative reforms in Illinois to end solitary confinement of children and to address the rights of children to in-person court hearings.
