As part of the 2021 World Congress on Justice With Children, this session is entitled, "Telling the Whole story: trauma and injustice that black children experience in America and the power of their resilience despite the odds."

The US’ obsession with policing and incarcerating Black America begins with black children. Unlike the white youth, who are allowed to experiment and afforded the freedom to test their boundaries, black youth are seen as a threat to white America and are denied healthy adolescent development. The discussion will explore the discriminatory and aggressive policing of black adolescence and generate a path for action.
