The Illinois Court Improvement Program (CIP) in collaboration with the Supreme Court of Illinois Judicial College Committee on Guardian ad Litem Education, Committee on Probation Education and Committee on Judicial Education present A Closer Look: The Interstate Compact For Juveniles.
This two-part course is follow-up to a previous webinar, Crossing State Lines: The Intersection of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) and the Interstate Compact of Juveniles (ICJ). This course will provide a more in-depth review of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC), the applicable statute governing the placement of youth in care across state lines and includes discussion of the roles and responsibilities of juvenile court stakeholders in cases involving ICPC.
As a result of this course, participants will be able to:
* Explain the purpose and authority of the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children
* Identify the obligation of court personnel, caseworkers, and the courts when judicial decisions involve the Compact
* Identify the resources that are available when cases involving the Compact arise
* Describe the role of the DCFS Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children Unit
